Players and game masters, this book is for you. Blackstorm Realms is all about YOUR worlds. And, it's about character customization options with our optional customization system called Aparatum. It is a playground without boundaries; you'll have fresh lore to invigorate your campaigns and provide new places, and a system of character customization to keep your games and characters from being the same and stale.
Blackstorm Realms allows you to incorporate your own homebrew realms, well-known official realms, and third party realms into one seamless universe and provides you with the means to move back and forth between all of them. Are there suns and moons and stars in your realm? Then give your players an opportunity to discover what's on them, not just what's beyond the horizon, BUT also what is beyond the BEYOND!
In Blackstorm Realms, you are introduced to at least three new realms that exist in a galaxy known as The Celestial Tree.

Let's not stop there, though. What else does Blackstorm Realms offer? You'll have new classes and archetypes, races, and spells and magic items at your fingertips. But let's go a bit further, shall we? You'll discover the existence of a hidden, galaxy-spanning enemy that works to dominate realm after realm and intimately tied to a mix of magic-and-material crafting called Aparatum. You'll discover secret societies, factions with intriguing motivations and goals, weapons that can slice through the fabric of reality, ancient celestial leviathans that move through the Blackstorm at breathtaking speed, jaw-dropping wonders between realms to explore, and so much more.
Here's the best part, too: whatever campaign and/or world you are currently running can continue. Blackstorm Realms is simply opening the door and providing the rules and mechanics for creating a larger, shared universe and the means to explore it all.
In short:
1. At least three new realms/worlds for you to explore.
2. New customization options for your characters called Aparatum. Think of them as mechanisms that can enhance your character's body and mind ...but there are risks that balance out the gifted power.
3. Complete mechanics for moving between realms, with a solid backstory and explanations that will satisfy fantasy players.

Sara and I (Aaron) started our journey with Dungeons & Dragons. Not only did we fall in love with the game, but the art of Jeff Easley, Keith Parkinson, Larry Elmore, and the great Frank Frazetta inspired us. We have them to thank for what we are doing today! D&D is such a huge part of our lives that everything we have now, including a happy marriage of 14 years, comes from and is because of a beloved game.
Since 2016, Jetpack7 has been on a mission to bring great art, creativity, and a whole lot of fun into the world. We have been fortunate to be a part of some well-known and loved titles since our start, such as Legends of Norrath, Just Cause 3, and digitally re-creating the 1980’s "painterly" look for the 25th anniversary of G.I. Joe.
In 2011 Wizards of the Coast approached our art studio, Conceptopolis, to help visualize 5th edition. Surprised to know that we were competing with larger and more venerable studios who had been in the industry for longer than ourselves, we remained confident and presented our work to WotC. Despite all obstacles and the intimidating competition, we landed the job!
It seemed fated that we would work on the same game that made us who we are now.
From 2011 to 2013, we produced over 300 pieces of art, some of which you have already seen if you have thumbed through the Monster Manual and Dungeon Master’s Guide for 5th edition.
Encouraged by this, we formed Jetpack7 in 2017 to bring our own passion for art and gaming to even more people. Having published comic books before, 5th edition presented us with the opportunity to get back into something we love to do. Our mission is to bring something fresh but familiar to a game we love so much, now that it’s being introduced to so many new players. D&D is enjoying an age of revival.
However, we recognized something lacking. Except for some notable stand-outs, many of the more popular campaign settings produced for 5e are much the same setting.
With so many new players joining the fun and bringing their own fresh and unique worlds to the game, we saw a solution to this ‘sameness.’ In an effort to bring back the nostalgia of the early days of gaming with a fresh outlook, some new mechanics, and our own unique creative twists on the world’s greatest roleplaying game, we came up with Blackstorm Realms! It's a new way to draw all of your worlds together and create something truly unique and special!
