A century from now all that remains of Earth is the detritus that humanity left behind. The races of a neighboring solar system have a penchant for artifacts left behind by extinct races. In Excavation Earth, you lead one of these races of alien explorers on their quest to excavate rare human artifacts and curate the ultimate art collection to sell off.
Excavation Earth is divided into three rounds, each of which starts with players drafting a hand of multi-use cards that will be used to perform actions. Players then take quick turns playing actions that allow them to move their explorers around the world map, excavate for artifacts, and deploy traders to bazaars and influencers to affect prices and wheel and deal on the black market.
The artifacts you dig up can be either sold to the bazaars housed on one of the aliens' ships that landed on Earth or added to a collection that will be sold off as a coherent art collection to museums back home. Excavation Earth ends after three rounds and the player who makes the most money during the game wins.
Excavation Earth includes a solo mode by Nick Shaw and Dávid Turczi.

Second Wave is the first expansion for Excavation Earth, introducing two new races - the Collectors and the Influencers - along with new game-play elements and ways of scoring. The Observation Barge, which lets you further manipulate the market demand for artifacts and score points at the end of the game. Achievements add a whole new way of scoring by completing set goals and Racial Wildcards give each race their own, more powerful action card to boost their round!
Excavation Earth: It Belongs in a Museum is the second expansion for Excavation Earth. It introduces two new alien races, mysterious artefacts, a deck of technology cards and a whole, new museum board. It Belongs in a Museum adds new ways of scoring that create new paths to playing and winning the game.
Excavation Earth: Pretty Boxes & Ancient Artefacts contains two sets of alternate artifact tiles — "Ancient things" and "Things that make noise" — as well as a "Pretty Box" expansion that adds one new artefact of each color, with that artefact being placed on top of the matching black market stack when revealed instead of on the map.
This item was a Kickstarter Limited Exclusive included in the Explorer, Envoy, and Collector pledges, and it's labeled "PROMO 01".
The Junk Tiles add a new type of rare artifact into the game that allows players to sell items with greater ease and flexibility.
